Het overlijden van Rick Danko in 1999 betekende het definitieve einde van The Band die in de jaren tachtig terug werd opgestart, onder impuls van Levon Helm en zonder Robbie Robertson. Hetzelfde jaar werd bij de drummer zanger keelkanker vastgesteld, na zijn herstel bracht hij nog Dirt Farmer en Electric Dirt uit.  Ondertussen stak de ziekte ongenadig terug de kop op en velde de muzikant uiteindelijk in 2012. In The Barn, een in ‘75 tot studio omgebouwde schuur In Woodstock, organiseerde Helm regelmatig concerten samen met dochter Amy Helm, Larry Campbell en Mavis Staples die op het afscheidsconcert van The Band met haar familie The Weight had  gezongen was uitgenodigd...
