Hawks uit 2015 was acht jaar lang het laatste studio-album van Alamo Race Track. Frontman Ralph Mulder vond na jaren ‘stilte’ rondom de band onverwacht veel inspiratie in Oost-Groningen, de streek waar hij opgroeide. De reden van zijn verblijf in die regio was een treurige: zijn vader kreeg te maken met een lang ziekbed, helaas zonder uitzicht op herstel. Dus trok Mulder weer naar Winschoten en omgeving om bij zijn familie te zijn. Daar kwam de coronapandemie nog eens bovenop. Mulder werkte op de boerderij van zijn broer, fietste heel wat af en merkte dat zijn hoofd leger en leger werd, waardoor ideeën voor songs juist weer ruim baan konden...
